ITV Leeds Kirkstall Road

PARKdesigned Architects were recently invited to transform ITVs existing studio on Kirkstall Road into a mix of studios and offices over five floors. The existing building which once had an ice rink on the first floor was designed to be completely changed externally and internally with a new glass atrium at the front of the building. This spacious and architecturally impressive area serves as the main entrance and reception for visitors, employees, and guests. The glass atrium is characterized by its large, floor-to-ceiling windows that allow abundant natural light to fill the space, creating a bright and welcoming environment. The use of glass in the design provides a sense of openness and transparency, creating a connection with the outside. Within the reception area, you can find the main reception desk where visitors can check-in and receive assistance. The space also includes comfortable seating areas, where guests can wait or have informal meetings. Part of the brief was to have an impact on the existing street scene. The contemporary glass frontage that was designed also doubles up as a large TV screen. See below a video of how this would look.

The studio on Kirkstall road is one of the main studios operated by ITV, the UK's largest commercial television network. It has been the home of Yorkshire Television since its inception in 1968. Many popular television programs have been produced there over the years, including "Emmerdale," "Heartbeat," and "The Royal." The studio complex on Kirkstall Road also houses production facilities for other ITV programs, as well as offices and support services for the network. It is an important hub for television production in the region and has made significant contributions to the UK television industry over the years.
