Hebburn Energy Centre
We are pleased to announce that work has started on our energy centre in Hebburn. The cladding has started to be fitted to the steel framework. The energy centre is progressing fast with the 272-metre pipe network and other infrastructure already complete. The network will initially connect to Durham Court a residential tower block and the Hebburn Central leisure centre. This should cut carbon emissions by around 319 tonnes a year.
The energy centre will house air to water source heat pumps, which will take ambient heat from the air and convert it into hot water to provide low carbon heating. The centre will also have a viewing platform to allow visitors to see first hand the innovative process.
The energy centre will be named after the late Professor Paul Younger, who was born in Hebburn and became an internationally renowned scientist.
Large infrastructure projects like the Hebburn Energy Centre can have significant positive impacts on local communities by providing cleaner and more sustainable energy sources while also contributing to the local economy.
